In an age of alarming and more pervasive criminal activity, the need for multi-level self-protection has become an increasingly important aspect of personal safety and survival. People who do well in life are often ordinary people who have developed skills that enable them to survive difficult times. Even if we’ve had a challenging childhood, adolescence, and/or adult life, every one of us has a choice to step out of the self-images and beliefs that have darkened our life and to help stop unhealthy cycles. Many people live life with low self-esteem, feelings of inadequacies, or a focus on the negative. We search for happiness everywhere and, over centuries, people have tried to find comfort and control through all sorts of means—money, sex, drugs, violence, and the accumulation of petty things, but it doesn’t keep. Mind awareness through recognizing warning flags, listening to intuition, and taking notice to details, in the surrounding environment and internally can prevent you from being caught in a dangerous or threatening situation; such as a criminal assault, domestic violence, depression, or a nasty addiction. The mind in action is a powerful tool when aware with knowledge and understanding, but without spirit to back it up, it lacks foundational support. A healthy spirit allows us to truly believe and have faith that we are worth defending. Real belief in yourself is seeing the value of who you are and taking the actions to expand this essence. Complete self-defense is a synthesis of the mind, body, and spirit, which together build prevention and undivided personal empowerment.
